“With the team around this table and these results, I see the beginning of a business. Now we have to grow it.”
— CEO of the company

The company and the opportunity

An established testing and inspection company, specialised in solar PV and battery storage, had built deep technical expertise through years of work with its customers.

That expertise could go much further: higher-value advisory services that help customers make key technical and commercial decisions.

The company already had the expertise and the team to deliver these services. What it lacked was the business to sell them.

How we built the business

We led the project from idea to first revenue, working directly with the CEO.

  1. A business worth building

We defined how to turn that expertise into advisory services: which customers to target, how to stand out, how to sell and how to deliver.

  2. First paying customers

We didn’t stop at the plan: we set up the business for real, with an offer ready to sell and the operations needed to deliver it. We went to market and completed the first transaction end to end: sale, delivery and payment. This showed that the company could sell and deliver these services with its own team. By the close of this phase, the company already had the seed of a real business: a first operation to build on and an investment plan for the next step, with its returns and risks.

The outcome

With that in hand, leadership could decide, based on evidence, whether to keep investing and bring in a dedicated head for the business. The plan projected a 7.4× return on investment over six years.

Years of expertise turned into a validated business, ready to grow.
